Thursday, July 31, 2008 - third time's a charm

I know, I know... I missed the Tuesday update for the blog. It's Lisa's fault (not really, but I like to blame things on her anyways.. I'm going to be a great dad)

Aiden now weighs 2 lbs - 12 oz.

Lisa and Aiden have been doing kangaroo care nearly every day. Generally, he does pretty good, but sometimes he has to go back to bed early. On Tuesday Lisa held him for over 2 hours.

Wednesday afternoon at 3:00pm they removed the ventilator to our surprise. This is the third time that they have taken him off the ventilator. He has been doing great. He is getting oxygen support through a nose cannula (30% O2 at this time). He's had very few desaturations all of which have been self-resolved. He's bigger and stronger than ever. We are all hopeful that Aiden will stay off the ventilator this time. This is another major milestone.

Aiden has one more week in the amphotericin course for treatment of infection. His feeding tube is still present. We can't wait for the day when all the drugs and tubes will be removed.

Keep praying for Aiden!

Glenn, Lisa and Aiden,

It is great to see Aiden's little face without the ventilator. Hopefully the third time is the charm.

Aiden is a handsome little thing.

The three of you are our prayers daily.

Glenn, Lisa, and Aiden,

Some of us already knew you were going to be a great Dad even before Aiden came and Lisa will be an amazing Mom. He can't go wrong with the two of you. He is a very handsome boy and the pictures always bring such joy. We all are going to enjoy the day when we can help you spoil him rotten. I see finger paint and playdoh in his future.(Ha Ha) We will continue to pray for you all. If you need anything let us know.

God Bless
Your Friends,
