He had a great weekend. He was up and down on his oxygen saturation with a few spells of heart rate drops. It was a quiet end to a rough week.
Both Lisa and I got to hold him today. We didn't do kangaroo care, but holding him was very nice. He did well for the hour that we had him out of the incubator.
We didn't want to push our luck, but we decided to ask Nurse Tracy what the requirements were for Aiden to come home. She said that he had to be off the ventilator, be able to maintain an appropriate body temperature, intake food, and gain weight consistently. She said he would be in the NICU a minimum of 8 more weeks - 36 weeks gestation. This is if everything goes well.
The doctors and nurses will now shift their focus from getting rid of the infections to weight gain and removal of the ventilator. He still has a long journey ahead, but getting rid of the infections was a big step forward.
Keep praying for Aiden!
Now that Aiden has reached the 4 week old milestone, Lisa and I have decided to update this blog only 3 times a week - Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday. If something important comes up on the off days we will be sure to post the news. As always, feel free to call us any time for updates.

Hello Lisa and Glenn, I am Jessica Adams great aunt form WV. She gave me your web site. I went to the very beginning and real all the way through. I have never seen any thing like it. Your little Aiden has really touched my heart. I printed his picture and will put it on our prayer list at Church. May God bless you! Dolores
